How to create a kitchen that is a blend of modern AND traditional
Choosing between a contemporary or traditional style has been a kitchen conundrum for years.
Traditional kitchens are timeless, surviving through the ages thanks to their neutral colours, charismatic design and attention to detail.
On the other side of the fence, modern kitchens are sleek and straightforward. They’re elegant and full of all the latest mod cons that are quickly becoming kitchen must-haves.
So, can you blend these attributes together to create something that is Modern AND Traditional?
Yep. Let me show you how:

So, can you blend these attributes together to create something that is Modern AND Traditional?
Yep. Let me show you how:

Take this Mornington Shaker in Hartforth Blue, for example.
Its blue tone is an age-old kitchen colour scheme, teamed perfectly with a modern-look worktop – the Strata Quartz in Marbled Grey.
To keep with the traditional theme, they’ve used the addition of Claremont Antique Bronze Bar & Knob handles but have kept the space trendy with indoor plants, gold accessories and some cool bar stools.
Finished off with decorative wall tiling, it offers a contemporary feel in a traditional space.
However, for some people, that’s not quite modern enough.

We are keeping with the very traditional Hartforth Blue theme, this time paired with a neutral wall of units with a Copper handleless trim for a modern two-tone twist.
The Strata Oak Herringbone work surface brings warmth and tradition to the sleek design and is contrasted by the addition of bold, monotone accessories.
Matt kitchens are ultra-modern and extremely popular at the moment, and it’s this finish that really puts the modern edge on this kitchen.
This kitchen is a great example of how you can use traditional colours in a modern style to blur the lines.
